how well does boric acid work?

Question

i’ve had a yeast infection for about 3 weeks now. i’ve had chronic yeast fiction since 2024, but normally one fluconazole pill may be too at most is enough to clear them every time . For some reason for this infection, i’ve taken about 4 maybe even 5 fluconazole pills in those 3 weeks bc everytime i go back to a dr they give me another one, and i was recently told to take 1 a week for 6 months. since it appeared to possibly resistant they tested to find out the strain, which came back as albicans. my gyno at this point told me to try vaginal probiotics daily and boric acid nightly for 30 days. the thing is, i’ve never used boric acid before, and im just into the second week and while i think it may be improving i still have itching and signs of yeast after taking a fluconazole even just recently. my discharge still smells a bit weird. I was just wondering if someone who’s never used boric acid before, or had an infection last this long at once, does this treatment actually tend to work? I’m honestly really torn up and depressed because I feel like I might never be cured at this rate. Looking for reassuring experiences if possible…

The only other note I have to add is that I also have a skin infection of yeast at the same time that I’m using clotrimazole for ? i don’t know if that has any effect
