Jimny vs Thar Roxx (MX5 / AX5L): What would you buy for this use case?
Hey folks,
I’ve been going back and forth between:
• Mahindra Thar Roxx MX5 (MT)
• Mahindra Thar Roxx AX5L (MT)
• Maruti Suzuki Jimny (MT, 4x4)
My use case is pretty simple, I want one car that can do everything reasonably well.
• Mostly city driving (groceries, school runs, general chores)
• Weekend trips with family (2 adults + 2 kids)
• Occasional off-roading (nothing hardcore, but I do want proper 4x4 capability)
• I prefer manual transmission
I don’t care too much about flashy screens and gimmicks. I care more about:
• Ease of driving in traffic
• Practicality with family
• Maintenance costs
• Reliability
• And whether I’ll still enjoy owning it 4–5 years down the line
On paper:
• **Jimny** feels more city-friendly and probably cheaper to maintain.
• **Roxx MX5** feels more powerful and spacious.
• **Roxx** **AX5L** seems more feature-loaded, but I’m not sure if those features really matter in day-to-day life.
If you actually own one of these:
• How is it in daily traffic?
• Is rear seat comfort decent for kids as well as for adults on longer drives?
• How are service costs?
• Any ownership regrets?
• Would you buy the same car again?
Would really appreciate real-world inputs instead of spec comparisons.
Thanks 🙏
