how hard is it to play top?

i have been a mid main since i started to play the game two years ago. i mostly play cait, morg, zyra and malz but i can play adc and sup if i need to. with the whole quest thing because of season 16, i feel like mid just doesn't have as much agency anymore.

i know i am already going to be hated for wanting to play adc in the top but how viable is it? rather, how hard of a transition would it be more me to become a top laner? for the most part, i don't mind learning a melee champ but i rather not if i dont have to (tho i dont mind learning illaoi because she is fun to play in aram). i do know how to play kayle but idk what her matchup are like in top.
