A plea for autonomy

In the video I frequently discuss, there is a harrowing moment where the doctor begins strapping the infant into the restraints. The baby instinctively resists, pulling his small arm away in a desperate plea for autonomy. Without hesitation, the doctor forces his limbs back into place and cinches the straps tight.

In that fleeting second, you witness an innocent child vocalising his detestation of the barbaric practice he is forced to endure. It is a heartbreaking sight that stirs a deep, visceral sense of injustice; one that makes me wish these infants possessed the strength to fight back and defend themselves against such cruelty.
