I need help understanding what camera I should buy:)
Hi! I’m an amateur photographer that’s now looking to buy my first camera in years! I’ve photographed a lot when I was younger with my parents cameras they had at that time. However I haven’t held a camera in 8+ years, however I’m definitely taking some sort of digital course to understand the world of cameras once again when I have bought a camera!
So, my main focus will be sports photography and videography. I own horses and that will be my main passion to photograph. I would like a camera that’s a bit of a “hybrid” in lack of better words. I love to photograph horses, animals, portraits etc. But I’ve recently found a passion for videography and editing videos. This might make it a bit tricky to find a camera that’s does both with good performance in both aspects. Remember that I’m an amateur and does this as of now just purely for fun. I strive to become better and learn along the way. I don’t need a top notch camera as my first but I want one that works for both of my interests.
I will be working indoors at somewhat bad lighting so what I’ve understand I need a lens with f/2.8 to make sure I get all the lighting I’ll need. I need a lens that is able to zoom in on horses from a distance, I’ll be 30-35 meters away at maximum and with the research I’ve done canons own lenses are quite expensive. I’ve mostly been looking at the Canon RF 70-200 f/2.8, and I’m wondering if there are any good options by other manufacturers that will work. I’ve never used a lens from another manufacturer with a canon so I’m really curious about the possibility of a downside or a possible problem that will occur.
Now to the cameras. I’ve really been looking at the r7 mark ll. Even though we don’t have all the specs and configurations yet I really think (based on what I think I know) it will suit me the best. However I would love to hear your guys suggestions about what cameras are available with similar features. And also if I’m completely wrong in the choice and should look into another camera I’m fully open for that! I just feel a bit lost in the jungle of cameras right now.
Best regards
