Classic top lane champions

Looking for champion suggestions that come as close to the ideal of top lane, a tanky bruiser solo laner that scales into a formidable midgame force.

When you think of good generic toplaners, which ones come to mind for you?

Im looking for champions with medium mechanical complexity. More dynamic than Garen or Mundo, but less technical than Riven or Gangplank.
