What do I need to master FortiGate?
I'm an Intern at a security solutions company, and I will be responsible for multiple solutions (EDR, SIEM, FortiGate, and mainly Azure with all its security features)
I already have experience in SIEM & SOAR, TI, EDR, and Azure as a SOC analyst, but now I'm learning FortiGate based on customers' needs.
I just finished all the material on Fortinet Training Institute for FortiOS 7.6 Administrator**,** and along the way, I was doing some implementation on VMware using :
- Win10
- WinServer25
- Kali Linux
- Ubuntu Server
- FortiGate VM (free evaluation license)
But there were a lot of features that I couldn't get to test and play around with, so I'm thinking I should ask my manager for a FortiGate license in Azure sandbox with a similar setup to what I have.
I want to know if it’s really worth going that far for it. I already have the email drafted, but part of me feels it’s overkill, while another part believes it wouldn’t hurt to gain that level of experience and knowledge.
Tell me what you guys think? Or if you have any better ideas!
