What was that ending? (1984)

For people who like the ending, can you explain why? I'm genuinely curious because . . .

I just watched my first ever Freddy Kruger movie and I REALLY don't like that ending. To me it completely ruins Nancy's character arc of going from a typical teenage girl to a badass (like she was fighting Freddy and winning). Only for the ending to be like, it was all for naught, she's dead now.

It also makes Glen being the worst bf ever a character choice that could've been prevented. You still could've gotten to that same twist ending while making glen competent.
