help! jack splitter or usb to jack?

Hi guys!
I recently got a PC and I’m a bit new to this stuff. I’m trying to use my Apple wired headphones as a mic. I bought a TRRS-to-dual-TRS splitter, and the audio works, but there’s a constant crackling/static sound in the background.

I’ve plugged everything into the correct ports - I even tried the front and rear PC audio jacks. I’ve also checked Windows mic levels and Boost.

Would getting a USB-to-3.5mm adapter likely fix this, or is there another solution I should try? Thanks in advance!
