Being around literary agents

Hey guys, so I’m a somewhat established writer on east coast. I have dozens of really good opinion columns out into the ether along with some good poetry and creative nonfiction.

I’m trying to get to know some literary agents - not in a “give me money or a deal” kind of way, but just expose myself to literary agents, get to know some, get to know the industry a bit. It’s not really schmoozing even, it’s just being comfortable in the industry and knowing how things work.

Any ideas? I’ve thought about making a trip up to New York to network with some people but I don’t know where to start.
