Traveling tips in Mahabaleshwar

Hey guys, i am planning to travel from mumbai to Mahabaleshwar but confused about how to travel in Mahabaleshwar, i found that we cannot get scooty there and only available option is taxis which are expensive. So i want to ask are scooties available anywhere near Mahabaleshwar?

Also, since i am here can you suggest some places to visit?
