Has the community always been this bad?

Every game is being invaded by people trying to take advantage of the player count to mf. People are making baal run games just to mf while everyone joins in.. That and the pkers/griefers in HC mode.. Has it always been this bad or is this a new thing? I've never played so close to a season start.. I just came from the other game that has such a trusting community people just drop trade items between each other..
