Passport expiry question

Hi everyone,

I recently received an ITA for Express Entry, and my deadline to submit the PR application (eAPR) is in March. However, my current passport expires in August 2026.

I am planning to renew my passport immediately, but it will take about 1.5–2 months to arrive, which would be past my ITA deadline.

1. Is it safe to submit my PR application using my current (expiring) passport to meet the March deadline?

2. Should I include a Letter of Explanation (LoE) stating I’m in the process of renewing it?

3. How do I update IRCC with my new passport details once they arrive—is it just a Webform?

Has anyone gone through this recently? I don't want to risk my ITA expiring, but I also don't want to cause issues with a passport that only has 5 months of validity left at the time of submission
