So this Sunday I went to play board games with friends from my city. I met them through Reddit, and now we have a WhatsApp group.

I wanted to do something different and fun, something I had never done before. Since I work from home, life becomes boring and repetitive.
So I joined the group. We were talking, and the admin decided to plan a meetup. Board games were one of the options, and it felt interesting.
Out of a group of 90 people, only 4 decided to meet for board games.

This was our second meetup.
In the first meetup, we had fun. It was a 3-hour session. I had never played board games before, so I had trouble understanding and remembering the rules.

There was this game called “Cheese Thief” where I had to close my eyes and open them only when it was my turn. But I didn’t remember the rules properly and opened my eyes randomly 😂😂. The game was about deception, and everyone was fighting among themselves while I was actually the thief. Because I didn’t follow the rules properly, they got confused about who the thief was. Later we were laughing at what a mess I created. I think they’ll remember me whenever they play that game.

For yesterday’s games:
First was Bollywood cards, where you have to guess movies and songs based on a card. It was okay. I didn’t remember many movies, but it was still good to try something new.

Second game was “Fill the Word.” You have to fill in a word after the word written on the card. You get points if you and someone else write the same word.

I was writing words that I thought others would write, but mine kept coming out unique. For example, the card was “Pretty ___” and I wrote “Pretty privilege.” Everyone started laughing. I thought it would be common. My friend sitting next to me said, “Why do you always write unique words?” 😂😭

After that, we played a game about buying and selling property. It was difficult for me to understand the rules at first, but I got the hang of it. It was interesting. Even without fully understanding the rules in the first round, I came second. In the second round, I understood the rules better and played smarter. I still came second, but the margin was very small — the winner had 55 and I had 54. That felt good because I finally used my brain properly to try and win something.

Then we played a card game similar to UNO (I don’t remember the exact name). The rules were simple, and I was accidentally very lucky with high-number cards. I was just playing normally and ended up winning without even trying.
After that, there were a few more games, but I was exhausted because I was hungry and my brain wasn’t working properly. I was running on two brain cells at that point.

Since I wasn’t putting much effort into the later games, others thought I was playing dumb. Another mini f*** up 😭, they thought I was theif 😭

Overall, despite all the mistakes and funny moments, it was an enjoyable experience and i had a good laugh.

So I went this Sunday to play board games with strangers and friends I made through Reddit, and it was fun.
