Chem Department Distinction GPA Range

I am studying under the Chem Department and I will be graduating next semester. The grad schools and med schools I'm applying to require "first honors" which translate to highest distinction. I know the LSA GPA ranges for distinction are about 3.86+ but Chem Department has its own ranges. I emailed the Chem advisors asking about the ranges but they're gatekeeping it and only said it's based on what percentile you are in. They won't even provide information on previous data so if anyone knows what GPA range is required for distinction please let me know. Thanks!
