Random WhatsApp messages from Indian numbers? I never shared my number.

Hi everyone. I need some advice because I’m a bit confused (and honestly annoyed).

Problem: Lately, I’ve been receiving random messages on WhatsApp from Indian numbers. I don’t know anyone from India, and I’ve never posted my phone number publicly anywhere. I’m very careful about where I share my contact details.

Context: The messages are usually just “How are you” or “Hello dear” type of things. I don’t respond, and I block them immediately, but new numbers keep popping up.

Has anyone else experienced this?

How are they even getting my number if I never posted it anywhere?

Is this just random number generation, or could my data have been leaked somewhere?

Would appreciate any advice on how to stop this. It’s getting really annoying.
