AITAH? Is that why my entire friend group suddenly stopped inviting me to everything?

I’m 21F and grew up with this group of about 7 or 8 girls. We became best friends when I was around 14 or 15 and were basically inseparable. We spent every weekend, holiday, and birthday together. We planned our weddings together, went to prom as a huge group, and everyone knew us as a little squad. Two of them are my cousins. Most were a year older than me and one was younger. They always felt like my sisters. I even took some of them to NYC for my 16th birthday, because that’s how close we were.

After they graduated, things naturally slowed down a bit but we still hung out pretty often. One had a baby, but the group still stuck together. Then I graduated and moved 3,500 miles away to NYC to play college softball. Even while I was gone, I kept up with everyone. I posted them for every birthday, commented on their pictures, reacted to their stories, and genuinely tried to stay close despite the distance.

I understand that friends grow apart and that adult life is different from high school. But these girls weren’t just high school friends to me. They were my whole world for years.

While I was away, two more friends got pregnant. I missed their gender reveals and baby showers, and it honestly crushed me because I felt like I was letting them down. One baby shower was at noon, so there was literally no way I could have made it while living across the country with a college athlete schedule. I cried about it because I felt like I wasn’t supportive enough anymore.

And for the record, when some of them were struggling, I even sent money to help out. I loved all of their partners too. I laughed with them, hung out with them, and genuinely cared about all of them as part of our little circle.

When I came home for the summer, I met the babies, fell in love with their mini-mes, and we had Friendsgiving and Friendsmas. I felt like I had my people back. This past summer, I made it to one of the baby’s first birthdays. I brought a gift, hugged everyone, watched the smash cake. I missed the other baby’s birthday because I work an internship an hour away with 4 AM to 4 PM shifts, so it wasn’t personal.

But once summer ended and I moved back home permanently due to expenses and family issues, everything changed. Suddenly they were all doing things together and I wasn’t invited. They painted wine glasses, made candles, had cute outings, and every single person was invited except me and my best friend. No explanation at all.

I waited for a Friendsgiving invite and never got one. This especially hurt because they used my house for years for hangouts, sleepovers, and parties. I eventually left the group chat because being ignored was making me cry. No one reached out after. Not even a “you good?”

Then Christmas came and again, no invite. I finally unadded everyone because seeing them all together without me just hurt too much. I’ve avoided family events because my cousins, who are part of the group, would be there. And they just had Galentine’s with everyone except me.

I never had drama with these girls. I loved them deeply, for years. So now I’m left wondering if I did something wrong and why no one ever said anything. I just miss having friends.
