Why do some people think a circumcision is automatically for non-medicinal reasons?

Mine was done at age 8 because my foreskin wasn't growing fast enough.

I had one date tell me that she wouldn't be with me because she assumed I was lying, and that it was for religious bullshit.

I should have kept my medical information private, but I was young and dumb.
