Sellers pulled out- worth writing a letter?

We were due to exchange at the end of March but yesterday we got a call to say the sellers health had worsened so they have pulled out.

I’m sad for the owners but I can’t help but feel it’s a bit of a rug pull since the EA hinted they’ve known about something like this in the background for a while.

I’ll be honest I’m completely devastated- it was everything I’ve wanted in our ‘forever’ home.

It’s no chain just this house sale but with the changes to their health the sellers aren’t moving into the retirement home they thought they were anymore so have pulled the plug completely. This is all second hand from the EA.

Is it worth writing them a letter saying how much we loved their house? Has a letter ever changed anyone’s mind?

We’ve already said we are happy to wait for an extended timeline but heard nothing back through the EA.
