Why have I not heard back when I should have SOS

If I applied mid Nov to the following schools and have heard nothing, how cooked am I for each? The majority on LSD have heard back from many of them. I understand it means they are waiting to make a decision but between what... A or WL or R or WL? Does it differ for each school... also if I get WL or R from all is it game over?

UChicago, CLS, SLS, NYU, UVA, Duke, Penn, UT, Vandy, GULC (ii), BU, BC

If it is taking longer for schools to decide on me than others I am not sure what to make of this. Any wisdom greatly appreciated, TIA.
