What is this lump on my back?
I (22F) have had this lump on my lower back for a few years now. I noticed it when I was around 17 years old and I have never been quite sure what it is. I got an MRI of it a couple of years ago and they said it looked just like a lump of fat, but I find it to be really itchy at times and it often flucuates in size randomly. I have always been fairly small, I am 5’3 and have never weighed more than 120 lbs, and even when I have been down to 105 lbs it is still there.
I also sometimes feel random “waves” of pain go down my spine, not sure if it is related but I am not sure what else it would be from. This lump also just makes it really hard to find pants that firt me well, and I have always been super self-conscious about it.
Even if it is just a lump of fat, does anyone have any advice on who I should go see about getting it removed, or have any info on how I could even get it removed. My parents have been very hesitent about allowing me to see a doctor for it, since it is right on my spine and “not worth it to get removed anyways”.
I’ve put up with it for a long time but its really ruining my self-image, so I would greatly appreciate any advice I can get!
