Feeling Not Good Enough? Read This
Hey everyone,
I want to talk about something that I think a lot of us quietly struggle with: feeling like we’re not enough.
After a setback — whether it’s losing a job, messing up a relationship, failing an exam, or just not meeting our own expectations — it’s so easy to start believing that we need to “fix” ourselves before we’re worthy again. We tell ourselves that if we were smarter, stronger, more disciplined, more confident… then we’d finally be okay.
But here’s what I’ve been learning: perfectionism isn’t self-improvement. It’s fear in disguise.
When we tie our worth to performance, we get stuck in a brutal cycle:
- Set impossible standards
- Feel anxious or inadequate
- Push ourselves harder
- Burn out or feel ashamed
And somehow we think that’s the path to confidence.
What’s actually helped me is shifting from “How can I be perfect?” to “How can I be honest?” Saying “I don’t know.” Admitting I’m struggling. Asking for help. Letting people see the messy middle instead of just the polished highlight reel.
I’ve realized setbacks aren’t proof that we’re broken — they’re proof that we’re trying. Like clay being shaped before it becomes something strong, the pressure doesn’t destroy us; it forms us.
If you’re rebuilding your confidence right now, please hear this: you don’t have to earn your worth back. You didn’t lose it. You are already enough — even in progress, even imperfect, even uncertain.
What’s one small way you’ve learned to let go of perfection lately?
