Muted… while already muted? I genuinely don’t understand the moderation system

I’m hoping someone can explain this because I’m completely lost at this point.

I’ve been dealing with frequent mutes in Marvel Rivals for a while now. Whether it’s the AI moderation being overly aggressive or something else, I’ve pretty much accepted that the system hands out penalties quickly — even for things that don’t feel severe.

But what just happened makes zero sense.

I was recently muted while I was already muted.

I could not use voice chat.I could not type in text chat.I literally had no way to communicate in-game.

So how is it even possible to receive another mute during that time?

That makes me wonder if the system is:

Stacking automated penalties from reports regardless of whether you’re actively communicating

Delaying punishments and applying them later

Or just flagging accounts automatically without verifying actual behavior

The lack of transparency is honestly the worst part. When you appeal, you just get the same automated response saying they “found reason” for the penalty, with no details and no sign that a human reviewed anything.

At this point I’m less frustrated about being muted and more confused about how a moderation action can trigger when I physically cannot speak or type.

Has this happened to anyone else? Is there some mechanic I’m missing?
