**Slots and Progressive Jackpots: What You Need to Know**

Progressive jackpots are jackpots that **keep growing every time someone plays**. Unlike fixed jackpots, which always pay the same, every bet from every player adds a bit to the prize pool. The jackpot climbs until someone wins, then resets and starts building again. That’s how some jackpots reach **tens of millions**.

Not all progressives are the same. **Standalone** jackpots are just one slot, one prize — still big, but usually smaller than networked jackpots. **Local progressives** pull bets from multiple slots in the same casino, so they grow faster. **Wide-area jackpots** link slots across multiple casinos, think **Mega Moolah** or **WowPot**, where one spin can make someone a millionaire.

**How They Work**
A small slice of each bet, usually 1–5%, goes into the jackpot. Wins can happen randomly or through special symbols/bonus rounds. RNGs make sure it’s fair. Some jackpots have rules: you might need to max bet, play certain games, or be in a specific region to qualify.

**Fixed vs Progressive Jackpots**

|Feature|Fixed Jackpot|Progressive Jackpot|
|:-|:-|:-|
|Prize Amount|Always the same|Grows with every bet|
|Volatility|Usually lower|Higher|
|Prize Size|Small to medium|Can be massive|
|Win Frequency|More frequent|Harder to hit|
|Gameplay|Predictable|Risk-reward excitement|

**Why People Play**
It’s the thrill of **watching the jackpot grow** and knowing any spin could hit. Even small bets contribute to big prizes. Wins are rare, but understanding how it works makes the game more fun.

**Playing Smart**
Set a budget and stick to it. Check if max bets are required. Treat it like entertainment, not a guaranteed payday. mBit’s demo mode is a great way to learn the mechanics without risking money.
