How do casting directors actually manage 1000+ audition submissions?

I’m trying to understand how casting works practically in India. If a project gets hundreds or thousands of actor submissions, how do casting teams:

1. Track profiles?
2. Shortlist efficiently?
3. Avoid fake or repeated submissions?
4. Manage WhatsApp chaos?

Is it mostly Excel sheets + email + WhatsApp? Or are there proper tools being used?
