People don't talk about Disney's Paperman and Feast that much, especially considering the recent trend in the animation industry in the last decade or so.

Discussion

Of course, we're all familiar with Sony's Spider-Verse movies and how they're repeatedly cited for creating the trend of 2D/3D hybrid style innovation in computer animation, which has been adopted by numerous other studios with their own spin, the most recent examples so far being Sony's GOAT movie and that one "imagination" sequence in Pixar's Toy Story 5.

However, the way I see it, this innovative approach is nothing new, especially by the time Sony's Spider-Verse was first released. If anything, my opinion is that Disney's Paperman and Feast short films are the real pioneers of this hybrid approach. If you take a look at those shorts, you can clearly tell that these styles look very innovative and nothing like what came before, which is something that should be very appreciated even to this day. In fact, these two shorts even won Oscars, which shows innovation can always be acknowledged.

It's just weird that people mainly associate this hybrid approach and it's surge with Spider-Verse, which, if anything, took that already existing hybrid innovation and put it on a whole new level. People should put proper credit where it's due.
