My ex best friend/bully is finally facing consequences & I’m not sure what to do

I’m a senior in high school (17F), and my ex best friend / bully, also 17F has finally faced repercussions for spreading lies about me & being a terrible friend for the three years we’ve been friends.

For context, we became friends early on in high school and quickly became very close. I shared numerous vulnerable moments and conversations with her, and I thought we had a tight bond. However, I noticed weird behaviour that was later confirmed to be her trash talking me, making up lies/rumours about my academics (saying I was cheating on tests when I didn’t), and liking my boyfriend & hitting on him while she was dating someone herself. Also, please note she’d been apparently trash talking me from the beginning of our friendship, so I really don’t know what I did that provoked her to hate me.

After months of genuinely tens of people reporting new lies she’s spread about me, she has now lost most, if not all of her friends. Now she is texting me and asking if we can have a chat. When she texted the same thing to a close friend of mine, they eventually met up and my friend informed me that according to my bully, people have exaggerated some of her lies or fabricated things entirely against her. My bully also said she would not attend senior prom anymore, as we are in the same prom group and she assumes I hate her.

I seriously don’t want her to skip prom, as this is her one and final chance to attend a prom in high school. However I also am not interested in rekindling the friendship we originally had, nor do I want to hang out with her one on one. I also never left my prom group or made any suggestions toward removing her from the group as I really didn’t want to initiate drama/make things complicated for everyone else. The thing is, I don’t want her to feel tormented for this final stretch of high school. I don’t exactly know what to do in my situation because she’s been so incredibly mean to me, but I don’t want to be the reason a girl loses all of her friends & the opportunity to fully enjoy senior prom. I’m really sorry if this post was incoherent, please comment if you want any clarifications, and advice is greatly appreciated!!
