[When you see it...](https://youtube.com/shorts/QqqjUKVEv-8?feature=share)

These arrived today and I was just way too excited and had share some pictures with you guys. Can you guess what they are? They both have unusual characteristics that are not common for their origin that might throw you off the trail. They are both very hard stones, and when their mines were open, they were only 175 miles apart. They both smell oaky, smokey, and dark compared to my other natural stones. Almost incensed. Somebody might have left them next to a wood burning stove, haha. They taste like cotton candy. I'm just kidding.

1. >!Charnley Forest - A very unique purple and green banding stone. The slurry is actually purple. I've never seen anything like it. Leicestershire England. The mines are all closed and the lands now protected and reserved by the government. No other stones will ever be mined.!<
2. >!Glanrafon - They do not normally have such contrasted and extreme inclusions. Or yellow veins. Or whatever you would call those things that look like oil spots. And would you call it renge on a welsh stone? If you watched the video, yes, much of the inclusions are a bright reflective silver. I don't know if I want to sharpen with this stone or just stare at it all day. Rhyd-Ddu, Caernarfon, Wales. The old abandon mine is apparently still reachable, but not without difficulty and safety equipment. Anyone down for a Eurotrip?!<

Writeup, in depth reviews and pictures of the stones are in the works! I can't wait to see what kind of polish and edge they put on my knives.

NSD: Very unique examples of very rare whetstones mined 175 miles apart.
