My aunts screwed me over and doesn’t take accountability
A few weeks ago my aunt send me a text, saying she won two tickets for a convention, she asked if I wanted them. They were only available for Thursday and Friday, so I said yes and said I wanted to go on Thursday. I thought it was really nice that she thought of me, I’m not having a good financial year so being able to go to the convention for free and only having to pay for the train tickets meant a lot to me!
Que a free days ago, my mom asked me if I’m aware they’re evening tickets, I told her my aunt never said that and showed her the texts. My aunt told my mom they were evening tickets but forgot to mention it to me.
I had already bought the train tickets with my best friend, and she has to work the next morning. If we went in the evening there was no way to get home because the trains don’t ride late where I live.
So I called my aunt, she said she told me they were evening tickets, I told her to read our texts and she said ‘oh yeah, I forgot’. After that she said ‘why don’t you just go to some museums then?’ So I explained her they I don’t have money for that, which she already knew. She then said she could swap the tickets for Friday but I had to pay her back, I told her that Friday wasn’t possible and once again that I don’t have money for that. Then she even doubled down and said ‘but you told me you were going Friday anyways, why would you buy train tickets for Thursday if you said you were going Friday?’ I reminded her to read the texts again where I clearly stated we wanted to go Thursday.
At that point she started cursing and told me it was all a bunch of unnecessary drama and that she couldn’t help me. So I got angry, I paid for train tickets that I couldn’t use, told her I wanted those tickets because it’s her screw up. But according to her, I should’ve been more clear about the day and ask her follow up questions so there wouldn’t be a miss communication.
Later I called my mom to vent, I was really angry that my aunt did this. And my mom being my mom, bought the tickets for me and told me to let it go. I love that she helped me out, my mom really is an amazing woman, but I can’t get over the fact how my aunt treated this situation.
And even more, I’m angry at myself for trusting my aunt. She had always been like this, never took accountability for anything. And that one time I let my guard down, she screws me and my mom over.
Even now they my mom helped me and we can still go Thursday, I’m so angry at my aunt. I know I should let it go, accept that this is who she is, but I can’t.
