AITA for telling my best friend about my ex’s personal issues and her use of them in an argument?

So I (20F) and my ex-girlfriend (21F) have been on and off for several months. She was my first everything and I was so deeply in love with her, when she broke up with me I actually got sick to my stomach because I already knew what was about to happen. Over the last couple of months we've been in a situationship post break up, and has severely affected my mental health due to her never being fully committed. But my main issue isn't her, it's mostly her ex-girlfriend.

Her and her ex-girlfriend (we're gonna call her Sally) dated for a couple of years and were really toxic. They were on and off all throughout this period and I am fully convinced this girl is psychotic. Sally and I were good friends for a while before me and my ex got together, and I even got her approval before I started dating her. While me and my ex were dating my ex would sneak around my back to see Sally and even told Sally's friend she was in love with her. Obviously this resulted in a break up and a huge argument between me and Sally (the first of many).

My ex and I ended up resolving things and getting back together a couple of weeks later (huge mistake), and we stayed together for about 3 months. During these 3 months I was the happiest I’ve ever been and it seemed like she was too. About 3 weeks ago I got a call from my ex saying that she can’t be with me anymore because “it didn't feel right to her”. I obviously got a little upset but I wasn’t mad at her for ending things because I always wanted what was best for her.

The next day I got a text from her saying “hey just thought that I would let you know but me and Sally are dating now.” When I read this I physically started throwing up because I can’t stand the thought of her with someone else so soon. I knew they would probably get back together at some point but not the day after we had broken up.

I send a long paragraph saying that she is truly toxic, immature, and un-empathetic for putting me through literal hell and that karma is a bitch. Then I proceeded to block her, not even 15 minuets later I get texts from Sally telling me to go “off” myself and go rot in hell with my friends who have passed. Telling someone to go kill themselves and referencing dead friends is abusive. Full stop. That’s not “relationship drama”, that’s cruelty. This made me lose every ounce of respect for Sally and all of my patience for my ex.

Now this is the part where I may be the asshole, I call my friend Ashley (19F) and tell her the whole situation, she proceeds to text my ex and tells me what she sent and I encourage her to go off on her and Ashley does not hold back and even mentions something about her family which I had told her previously even though Ashley and my ex absolutely hate each other.

I'm still genuinely in shock and don't even know how to feel, I am truly devastated. Now I’m wondering if I went too far by involving Ashley and escalating things, especially since family was mentioned. AITA?
