Low bid projects don’t create alignment.
They create strategy.
And not the good collaborative kind.

When a GC buys a job too cheap, the game starts immediately.

Not collaboration. Not problem solving. Not “how do we make this better for the Owner?”

It becomes:
Where’s the gap?
What was vaguely drawn?
What’s technically not in my scope?
How do I recover margin later?

You forced everyone to the bottom number on bid day.

So don’t act surprised when the project turns into a chess match of change orders.

There’s zero incentive to help you pre-bid.
Why would anyone clean up design gaps for free when they know they’ll need those gaps later?

Low bid rewards silence. It rewards withholding. It rewards contractual jiu-jitsu.

Then Owners sit in OAC meetings wondering why it feels tense.

You want collaboration?
Stop weaponizing procurement.

Agree or nah?
