What's your opinion of the Schwinn High Sierra?

I see a lot people on here posting about them. I was donated a frame/fork with a few components today. The fork and frame dropouts were a weird spacing, I couldn't find any wheels that would work. The seatpost size was weird. The stock components were garbage. Why is this such a loved bike?
