Are budgies easily influenced by their flock mates?

We got our first pair of budgies recently. Our boy is very brave, warms up so easily but then is spooked by our girl getting spooked & feels like our progress is set back. On the other hand, she won’t even look at the veggie chop because it’s scary but once the boy starts picking through it, she will as well. Would it be beneficial to only make handling progress with the boy when she’s not around, so maybe once he’s get more comfortable we can show her together that it’s okay?
