cmv: "Are you an atheist?" they asked.
I was once asked whether I believed in God or not. I could sense that they were expecting me to be an atheist. I don't really claim anything; anyone would probably think I don't believe in God because I don't do the things people expect from someone who believes in God.
They were looking at me, expecting an answer, but unfortunately I couldn't explain myself at that moment. But I hope that if someday I meet them again, we might start our conversation from this very point. I would love to answer them.
Till then, I thought of expressing it here.
What do you think God really is? If I talk about myself, I surely don't think He is a man in the sky. I believe that the concept of God was introduced to humankind when it was scared and confused about why we are here, what the point of all this is, what the purpose is, and many more such questions.
Humanity was seeking truth, and that's when they came up with the God we know. It was the answer. It was to answer all those questions. It was an assurance. It was the only thing that could make sense to the human brain. At least now, it had some answer to these questions.
And this is why I somehow do relate a little to the people who believe in God. But I can never fully get atheists. I mean, how can you explain all this? It feels ridiculous to think that there is no creator. But again, I do get them too. They just don't like the "concept of God" that is forced on them by society. I mean, who would? But let's leave this debate of whether God exists or not for some other time.
Back to me, I am surely not an atheist. I do believe that there is something out there. It cannot be just this. So maybe I do believe in God, but my God is not what society feeds us. My God is nothing else but the beginning - the truth. After all, that is what we are all looking for.
And Maybe faith is not about having all the answers, but about being brave enough to keep searching.
Yeah, that is the God I truly believe in and am seeking✨
