Finally starting to see results after nearly 3 months on Accutane
It’s been an absolutely horrible 6 months for my skin and mental health, particularly due to never suffering from acne in my 28 years.
I started Differin in August after trying to correct the texture I had developed due to trying a million different Korean products (1st photo). I wrecked my skin barrier with the Differin. GP then put me on Duac, and when that didn’t work, Clindamycin.
Finally, saw the dermatologist after a series of failed protocols. Tried Winlevi too before the derm finally put me on Accutane on the 29th of November (2nd and 3rd photo are of my skin when I started Accutane). I have had dry eyes and skin, but after seeing my skin noticeably change over the last month, I will take those side effects any day over severe, pustular acne... 4th and 5th photo are of my skin currently.
Moral of the story - fuck social media and its influence in convincing me that I need a million skin care products. After Accutane, I will continue using a simple moisturiser, sunscreen and cleanser for the rest of my life. Simplicity is best for the skin.
