Where is everyone storing their bins?

I've had them in the basement filled with junk these past few months, but its time to get them out.

What's the best place to store them? I have no room in my garage for these behemoths. I'm thinking of having them on my driveway till the snow melts, and then laying a patch of gravel or pavers beside the house to keep the bins.

Does this leave me open to the risk of raccoons and other local critters making their way into the bins?
