Wife and I will be looking to buy this spring. However, we are almost 70 and don't want whatever home we move to, to be sold to provide care in the future. How can we be sure to be able to leave whatever we buy to our (now 23) son?
This may be more of an r/UnethicalLifeProTip question I guess. Please point me to an alternative sub?
So, I am being made redundant soon and we are going to sell up where we are and move to a new place for our retirement. We want to be able to leave the next property to our son when we die, but I'm hoping that won't be for a long time. He has sight issues and has not been able to get work since he left school.
Do we buy a property in his name, and live there? In our name and risk that if we are sent to one of those stinking nursing homes we have to pay for it with the property? I'm sure this is a common thought but I want to plan ahead if I can.
Thanks.
