Helldivers is a game about politics, and managed democracy. Deployments are how we vote. In a democracy the people tend to be a little dumb. They need narratives to follow. A simple utilitarian argument doesn't cut it for most people. If you want people to dive a certain planet you need to convince them to.

How do you convince them? Well the DSS tends to convince most people what to do. Defense missions as well seem to have a similar effect because of their visual on the campaign map. Then there are narratives. Why are we fighting? Why is this planet special?

One of the most successful political campaigns in Helldivers was Malevalon Creek! The fantasy of fighting in space Vietnam to avenge our many fallen comrades was tantalizing! We took on the Creek while also lacking the logistics to take it! Many people made Malevalon Creek their entire personality! Another one was Equality on Sea. That battle was fierce and glorious! Both battles where heavily memed, had lots of art, and a distinct fantasy attached to it.

For some of these bug planets I recommend talking about the horror associated with the extreme darkness! fuck space Vietnam we're im space Silent Hill! We cant see the enemy until they're 10 meters away! We use fire weapons because without them you're blind! This is an interesting form of gameplay that I'm personally really enjoying!

You can also convince people with other narratives such as planets being good SC farms, making unsubstantiated claims about the difficulty, making art and propaganda posters.

There are also definitely things you shouldn't do. Shaming people for not doing your planet is the best way to get people not to do your planet. Talking about game mechanics isn't really all that compelling for a lot of people when choosing which Hell to dive(ers)

Some people simply wont move from their factions, some people will just follow the DSS like moths to a flame, some will just look at the icons on the Galactic map and follow those.

Just dont forget that this game is about an army that runs on managed democracy. High command manages it but YOU can democracy it! Make arguments for your planet!
