Realistic GEMSAS Timeline and Advice for application

Applications- AU🇦🇺

Bit of a long one, but I appreciate any help. I'm 22M, I have recently moved from the UK (I'm an Australian Citizen and resident). I graduated in Biomedical Sciences from a strong university in England with first-class honours, which converts to a gpa of 6.6. After I graduated, I felt lost as I thought my Medicine dream had gone, and I went after not getting grades for undergrad Med (the primary pathway in the UK), and I didn't really know what career path to pursue. Anyways I saved up some money and decided to travel around Australia, and now I'm here in Melbourne a year on since graduating. I have reignited my goal of doing medicine, and I want to do it here, considering I'm eligible for domestic fees, the NHS is in a bit of a shambles, and it seems the graduate entry pathway is much more of a done thing! I want to sit the September GAMSAT and probably the March one as well (given the posts on here, I'm not optimistic for my first attempt). I hope to start in the class of 2028 (I'll be 24). Anyways now I'm in a bit of a pickle as basically, since graduating, I've been working as a supervisor at a cafe and travelling (much needed), which isn't bad but not progressing my career much. I need to get some work as my savings are running low, and I'm just on the Centrelink JobSeeker allowance. I want to get some clinical exposure, as my degree was rather academic. I have been struggling to get even entry level gp/hospital admin roles. I put a lot of effort into applications, but I fear that on face value, as I don't have any clinical or proper admin experience, no matter how much I show my transferable skills, there will be those who will be much lower-risk hires than I. Then there are research assistant jobs, which people tell me to apply for, but I didn't do a master's degree, so competing against those who plan on doing PhDs is pretty hard. I have some family members who are doctors and plan on doing some shadowing and applying for some volunteer patient services roles at the very least. I just don't want to fall back into hospitality and need a decent job I can do for the next 2 years to boost cv for med applications, but also give me a solid foundation for career progression if I can't get in. Has anyone been in a similar situation and managed to find a good healthcare-related job to do whilst applying and studying for GAMSAT? Also how is my GPA? UK degrees are generally weighted differently, as 70-80% is probably the equivalent of a high distinction here but GPA calculations don't really consider that. Do med schools take that into consideration?
Thanks and good luck everyone with your studies :)
