Girlfriend made me watch LIB, now I have thoughts.
I have never seen a single episode of Love Is Blind, that is until my girlfriend said, “this is what we’re watching.”
I reluctantly sat through the first episode half paying attention, then somehow proceeded to binge the next 8 episodes completely locked in. I still find it absolutely insane that people around my age are getting engaged without seeing each other, as most people do. But I live for the cringe. I figured it might be interesting to share my honest thoughts on each couple from someone in their 20s who has never watched a reality dating show before.
Christine and Vic – Wholesome. I don’t really have much else to say about them. Kinda boring, but I understand that doesn’t pull views. I like how well they fit each other, even if they might just be a planted couple—I can’t quite tell. But they will for sure be married.
Devonta and Brittany – These two throw me for a loop every episode. I thought they were going in the right direction after meeting Brittany’s parents, but sometimes I just question it. Brittany gives the vibe that she does want love, but also didn’t want to get kicked off the show, so she picked the dude nobody was really going for—even if he has the personality of a rock. I do think Devonta has good intentions, I just think he’s very nonchalant and doesn’t think that deep into things. Brittany, on the other hand, feels like she might overthink her way out of a marriage. I still think they’ll get married, but probably not for long, or just for the show’s sake.
Mike and Emma – My personal least favorite couple. Didn’t really care for Emma in the pods considering her main topics were surgery, having children, and adoption. Mike is pretty bland too—he kinda looks like Connor’s stunt double and reflects that energy. Emma’s attitude in the pods was rough, but once she realized she couldn’t get her first choice, she locked in real quick. But Mike’s always been her first choice… right? I honestly wonder if they have any normal conversations off camera that don’t revolve around having children, because it’s getting hard to watch. Mike does seem genuine though. They’ll probably get married.
Connor and Bri – I want to like them. I really do. I like Connor, and out of his options I think he made the right choice. Bri is a piece of work. Does she ever give him a compliment? She constantly micromanages and ragdolls him in conversations. I’ve dated girls like that before, and the second she brought up that argument about his first interaction with the guys, I knew exactly what type of person she was. They do have good moments though, so I’m rooting for them—if she can get out of her own way and realize Connor is definitely the right choice. They SHOULD get married. Key word: should.
Alex and Ashley – Oh boy. Let’s start with the good (because it’s shorter). Ashley seems very sweet and very invested. That said, she does give a slight mean-girl, privileged vibe, but that’s about it. Alex, on the other hand, might be the biggest narcissistic douchebag I’ve ever seen in real life. Dude talks like he was one step away from being a pro athlete. Saying that is like me saying I cooked a perfect medium-rare steak but forgot it on the grill and burned it—you didn’t make it, bro. Also not having a job, oh but he “day trades” yea he’s trading the currency in Australia to American currency. What’re you making 20$ a day? He’s a compulsive liar, I’ve said it since day one. The way he repeats questions before answering is such an obvious stalling tactic. He’s good at it, but it’s still obvious. Watching him get caught at the family dinner was incredible. I genuinely think the cameras being there are the only reason he holds himself back. Ashley, please run.
Jordan and Amber – My favorite couple. I was nervous Amber wouldn’t be interested after the face reveal, but I’m really happy for them. Jordan gives off elite offensive lineman energy—solid dude, protector vibes, good character. Amber seems super sweet too, and I’m glad she found someone like him. I wish they got more screen time, but they mostly talk about her daughter, which can get repetitive. They’ll get married, and hopefully actually stay together.
Chris and Jessica – Thank God Jessica is strong-minded enough not to take him back. She seems like such a genuinely caring and supportive person. Beautiful home, successful, and still hyping up Chris’s mid apartment like it was a mansion. She would’ve been an incredible partner. I actually liked Chris at first, but his real character showed quickly. When he told Jessica she wasn’t active enough for him, I genuinely thought it had to be staged. I still wonder if producers influenced that somehow. After Cabo, he seemed completely different—like he went on a 48-hour spiral and came back a new person. The way he talks and carries himself now is wild. Meanwhile Jessica deserves a full redo with someone on her level.
That’s all I got. Sorry for the essay. Curious what everyone else thinks. If you made it this far, respect
