Why do I keeping losing and winning in a row?

Hey everyone, I’ve been playing since the Dota 1 days. I started playing Dota 2 in 2013, but I’ve always been pretty average skill-wise. These days my schedule is pretty fragmented, so I mostly just play Turbo mode.

Recently I’ve noticed something strange: my wins and losses feel really abnormal. I might win four or five games in a row, then suddenly go on a losing streak of eight to ten games. In almost all of those losses, they’re complete blowouts — totally one-sided games with barely any exceptions. After that I’ll maybe win one or two, and then it’s back to losing another five or six.

I’m wondering how Dota 2 calculates matchmaking right now. Why does it feel like my matchmaking is set up to be this rough and streaky? Constant losing like this really messes with my mindset.
