Recurring dream of ex

We have been broken up and no contact for almost 7/8 years. Yet multiple times a week, insanely vivid dreams of him. Insanely realistic. I’ve done cord cuttings, ceremonies to detach, worked with a shaman… yet it feels like he’s “visiting” me constantly.

A few weeks ago I felt an energy shift of him leaving my energy (again we are not in contact for several years and I’ve happily moved on!!) and I thought good, he’s done invading my dreams. And it was over for a few weeks. Then 2 nights ago I felt him re-enter my energy field before bed and sure enough he’s been in my dreams again

Can anyone help me understand this? What does it mean and why is it happening.
