While you're counting sheep, I'll count my lucky stars

Lovers

I don’t know if I’ll ever send you something like this, so I’m putting it here instead.

I think I’m falling in love with you. And that both fills me with warmth and terrifies me in equal measure.

Every time we’re together, it feels like something real is building. Not just chemistry. Not just excitement. It feels steady. It feels nourishing. It feels like being understood in a way I didn’t know I was missing.

You make me feel safe. And that’s not a small thing for me.

I don’t think you fully know how much courage it takes for me to let someone see me like this. The last time I opened my heart, I was blindsided in a way that physically hurt. It made me afraid of my own vulnerability. Afraid that loving someone deeply meant I’d lose myself when they left.

So when I get quiet sometimes, or when I seem scared underneath the happiness, it’s not because of you. It’s because this feels different. It feels real. And real means I have something to lose.

When you reassure me, when you hold me, when you look at me the way you do, it calms something in me that has been on high alert for a long time.

I don’t want to rush you. I don’t want to pressure you. I don’t want to say words before they’re ready.

I just want you to know that what we’re building matters to me. More than I expected. More than I was prepared for.

And even though I’m scared, I’m still here. Choosing this. Choosing you. Carefully, but willingly.

If this keeps growing the way it has been, I think one day the words won’t feel so heavy to say out loud.

Until then, I’m holding them gently
