Do designers and devs ever fully understand each other?

Had a small back-and-forth this week during handoff.

From my side, the layout felt pretty straightforward. Nothing wild. Clean sections, standard components.

From the dev side, it turned into a discussion about edge cases, responsiveness quirks, and states I hadn’t fully thought through.

It wasn’t conflict. Just a reminder that what feels “simple” in design isn’t always simple in implementation.

Made me realize how often we’re solving different layers of the same problem.

Curious how people here experience that dynamic.

Do you involve dev earlier to avoid surprises, or is some friction just part of the process?
