First finished hat

Hi all, I finished my first hat and I’d love advice. This came out a bit short and I don’t like how wide the line of decreases is. Thankfully I have a tween who this might fit so I’m hoping to try again. If I do the decreases without any knits between them will they look like one line?

This is the first hat I’ve ever gotten to close at the top!
