Remote in LCOL country or move to the US
So I’m at abit of a fork in the road and would appreciate some advice.
Been working on a d2c app in my evenings for the past 9 months and launched a few months ago. I was doing my usual customer feedback loop and decided to jump on call with one of my most active users to learn from their experience and get some suggestions. After the call he reached out offering me an interview at the company he works for as they’re hiring engineers atm.
Went through their interview process and ended up landing a role paying around 30% more than what I’m on now. But the part that has my brain frazzled is they said I can either work remotely from anywhere in the world or move to Boston where they would get me an o1 visa.
Now the two options are:
- move to a lcol country and save hard. I’ve estimated I can save around $100k a year.
- Move to Boston and get a green card in 1-2 years. Saving would be a lot harder here but obviously US salaries after a stint here could be significant.
I’m optimising for financial upside. Still relatively young (27M) and single. What would you do
