When to end dates for good?.

I just feel like I'm at the end of patience. I tried to find someone else after a few years of trying. Now I feel like giving myself an ultimatum such as in 7 months if I don't find someone great I will give up. Has anyone tried this I don't see the point anymore. I'd like to be married one day but how can I have that idea when I can't even find a boyfriend.
