Last minute

I am curious on others experiences with purchasing tickets last minute, such as buying an hour or less before the show starts. Is it true that prices drop the closer to show time? I just want to be in the room where it happens. Seat location doesn’t matter much to me.

I want to plan a trip to Vegas this summer but want to do it on a budget. Any other cost savings ideas are welcome.
