should i join my sophomore year?

currently i’m a freshman and at my old school i wanted to do jrotc but i couldn’t due to my schedule, about a month ago i transferred to a new school and they have jrotc but since we are so deep

into this school year i can’t join so im considering doing it my next year like i really wanna do it but im just like scared and insecure of the fact that its like a year behind and im gonna be with like freshman

does it really matter? and if i join what activities is there to do?
