Front desk rebooking patients for different doctors?
A few times now in my surgery when a doctor had to call in sick or was supposed to be away and had patients booked in these patients are usually moved over to GPs with free slots.
I had a patient come in today who had a set of bloods done with another GP and the other GP was planning on possibly starting a medication (not the usual blood pressure or cholesterol medications which I would have been ok with but something slightly more complex). This could definitely have waited another week or so when the other gp came back.
Patient became quite upset and angry as they wasted their appointment and paid off a childminder to attend the appointment.
I was quite unhappy with this and raised it with the front desk and appraised the patient of their blood results but told them to book in again with the other GGP.
Do you think I was being unreasonable? Should I bring this up with the practice manager?
